Expect this new Porsche to be a hybrid model

The new 2025 Porsche 9111 GTS RS will likely have a single electric motor situated between the flat-six engine and the transmission. This should make the new 911 a mild hybrid car with an electric motor derived from the Porsche 963 LMDh race car. Although it’s a small motor, it utilizes an 800-volt architecture, which means it can be recharged quickly to provide electric power whenever desired.

This new electric engine should generate up to 68 horsepower, with the minimum output reaching 40 horsepower, adding to the already impressive power offered from the gas engine lineup. Additionally, the MGU will be upgraded to work for the RWD 911 GT2 RS. The hybrid system in this car should feature a 400-volt build, which is a departure from the 800-volt system of the 963 racing car. The battery will be located behind the rear seats in the GT2 RS.

Will the 911 turn electric?

Porsche is already working toward a lineup of electric cars, starting with the already electric Taycan. We may see familiar names changed to electric models over the next few years, but the Porsche 911 won’t be one of them. This iconic sports car will continue to utilize a gas-powered engine for as long as possible, although a hybrid system is expected in the 2025 version.

The 2025 Porsche 911 GT2 RS is expected to reach up to 700 horsepower for the drive. The hybrid setup adds weight to this car, with as much as 220 pounds of added weight over the Turbo S, but Porsche is compensating for this with more comprehensive use of lightweight materials.

When will this Porsche 911 arrive?

The new 2025 Porsche 911 GT2 RS should give us a brand new car to admire and enjoy in the 2025 model year, but Porsche hasn’t confirmed this car will certainly arrive in time for 2025. Fingers crossed that it’s ready in time.
