What’s the Drive System of the Ioniq 5?
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 uses one of two systems, depending on what you choose. The RWD versions have a single permanent-magnet synchronous reluctance motor that uses a 77.4-kWh battery pack. This system is good for 255 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. The driving range is 303 miles for this model. You can fully charge this SUV at home in less than seven hours using a 240-volt outlet.
If you want the AWD version of this SUV, you’ll have two electric motors and the same battery pack. The power increases to 320 horsepower and 446 lb.-ft. of torque, but the driving range decreases to 256 miles on a single charge.
There’s also a shorter range model of this electric SUV that has a single motor and a 58-kWh battery pack. This model gives you 168 horsepower and a driving range of 220 miles. This is the power setup for the SE Standard Range model, which should be the most affordable version of the Ioniq 5.
