Image Size Guide for Automotive Digital Marketing

Why Correct Image Sizing Matters

Sharing images to your dealer’s social media pages, whether they’re published on your dealer’s Facebook Page, Instagram or Blog is important since you’re giving your customers and readers the chance to see your content and graphics in the most optimized way for each platform. It may seem tedious to make multiple versions of the same image with different dimensions, but it will show your audience that you pay close attention to detail which will make them more likely to follow you online.

Dimensions for the Main Three Platforms: Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter

You should already have a Facebook Page, an Instagram profile and a Twitter profile for your dealership. These sites are where your customers are going to follow you for the latest in new vehicles, announcements and special offers from your dealership.

Facebook Image Size Guide

Facebook graphic dimensions include the optimized sizes for your profile picture, cover photo and any graphics you share to your newsfeed. For your dealer’s profile picture, keep the image at 180 x 180 px (pixels). Your cover photo should be 820 x 312 px, and images to your newsfeed should be 1200 x 630 px.

Image Dimensions for Super ‘Grammable Posts

Instagram is an especially important social media platform that your dealership should be actively sharing content on. There are three main graphics to consider. The main feed graphics should be 1080 x 1080 px (Instagram also allows you post landscape images, but for your grid, you’ll want to post square images), the Instagram Stories graphics should be 1080 x 1920 px, and your profile picture should be 110 x 110 px. Instagram is key to marketing your dealership, so make sure to size your graphics accordingly.

Optimum Twitter Image Dimensions

Twitter is a great social media platform to share the latest news with your followers, and also has three main graphics to focus your attention on. Graphics in tweets are 440 x 220 px, the cover photo is 1500 x 500 px and your profile picture is 400 x 400 px.

You’ll notice that are some similar graphic elements across the main social media platforms with regards to profile pictures and cover photos, with the exception of Instagram, so you’ll want to make sure to have the same graphics for each platform. This consistency will promote your brand’s image across all social media marketing platforms.

Blog Image Sizing

Blogs are where you can flex your dealer’s creative skills and give more in-depth descriptions of new vehicle models and announcements about your dealership. It’s still important to keep your blog graphics optimized, so your customers can enjoy reading your blog without dealing with long page load times or pixelated graphics. You’ll want your blog post graphics to be 800 x 1200 px and any blog header graphics you use to be 560 x 315 px.
