The automotive world will have to wait until 2025 for Ram’s electric truck. In the meantime, see what to expect for changes in 2024 before heading to the Ram dealer.
Times are changing in the world of pickup trucks. Power used to be everything, but now, efficiency is the name of the game. Ram will join other popular truck manufacturers in the EV revolution with the all-electric 1500 REV. However, drivers won’t see it at their local Ram dealer until 2025.
The fact that Ram has big things in the works for later doesn’t mean the automaker is doing nothing right now. Ram’s existing lineup of gas and diesel models has already undergone some minor changes.
Ram Updates Its One Remaining Van
The Ram ProMaster is the only van left in the automaker’s lineup, and the company keeps it up-to-date. The most substantial changes for 2024 focus on safety tech.
The 2024 ProMaster comes standard with Ram’s ParkSense emergency braking system. The van also features a backup alarm, which drivers can set to emit white noise instead of the ordinary beeping.
Ram keeps things simple for new options, limiting them to a heated steering wheel and windshield. Drivers can find the 2024 ProMaster at their local Ram dealer.
The Ram 1500 Trades Out Trim Levels
Changes to the Ram 1500 lineup are minimal, with all versions getting an updated tailgate ajar warning but little else. The biggest news regarding the 1500 is the company’s decision to nix its popular supercharged Ram 1500 TRX.
After only three years, the Ram TRX and its supercharged 6.2L HEMI V8 entered a final production run. The 2024 Final Edition guise gives the popular truck the sendoff it deserves, with trim-specific cabin details, exterior badges and decals, and premium features throughout.
At the same time as the automaker sends off the TRX, it is also reintroducing the Tradesman Warlock. The Warlock will never replace the TRX, but it does come off-road ready with skidplates, 33” tires, a rear-locking differential, and performance-tuned shocks.
The Heavy-Duty 2500 Sees Few Changes
The Ram 2500 saw more substantial changes in 2023 when the company introduced a new off-road trim, the Rebel. The HD truck also received updates like a digital rearview mirror and trailer-reverse steering control.
The 2024 Ram 2500 is more or less a carryover. The only change the company made was to add the standard tailgate ajar warning also included in the 1500 lineup.
The 3500 Also Remains Largely Unchanged
Like the 2500, the Ram 3500 got a refresh in 2023. This year, it remains unchanged aside from the same tailgate ajar warning lamp applied to the rest of Ram’s truck lineup.
Drivers who missed out on the changes to the 2023 Ram 3500 will still find this truck’s updates exciting. Like the 2023 model, the 2024 3500 found at the local Ram dealer features a new 12.3” digital instrument cluster, telescoping tow mirrors, a digital rearview mirror, improved trailer cameras, and more.
For those who find the minor changes made to Ram’s truck lineup for 2024 unsatisfying, don’t worry. Experts believe that the company’s foray into the world of EVs will more than makeup for the relatively unexciting model year changes.
